Down bedsheets on the other hand are commonly derived from the down or the fine layer of feathers of birds. It is usually found outside of the feathers. This type of bedding is known to be a fine heat insulator and padding. It is very good to use this bedding in cold seasons.

Another type, the silk, is one type of bedding material obtained from insects that forms as a natural fiber that can be woven into textiles. Most silk materials used nowadays come from silkworms. This process is usually tedious but the result is a fine silk textile that is very soft and comfortable when used as bedding.

Wool is also one very important type of bedding material. It is a kind of fiber derived from follicles, unique kind skin cells of sheep. Follicles of other mammals such asrabbits, goats, and llamas are also considered as wool fibers. This material is also commonly preferred by manufacturers because of its known resistance to static. The moisture retention in wool fabrics prevents static electricity from piling up. Wool also serves as a great type of bedding as it is widely considered to be hypoallergenic.

On the other hand, the polyester is composed of naturally occurring chemicals that could change shape when exposed to heat. Aside from being made as bedding materials, polyester fabrics are also used in other home furnishing garments such as beds, curtains, draperies, and bed sheets. This type of bedding material is also used to stuff comforters and pillows.

Another type of bedding materials is polysatin, flannel, satin, and natural latex. Historically, accounts of bedding as an important garment in home and room furnishing started as early as the reign of Egyptian civilization when pharaohs adorned their beds with beddings to move their beds up and off the ground so they can sleep on a raised surface.
