Beddings today are commonly categorized as comforters, duvets, blankets, bedspreads and sheets. Comforters are often referred to the type of blanket intended to provide warmth. It is also widely used as sheets and mattress pads. Duvets on the other hand are types of beddings traditionally composed of feathers or down made into a soft flat bag which can be used as sleeping blankets. Duvets were originally developed in the European countryside communities.

A duvet is very economical as it does away with separate sheets, blankets and bed covers. These functions are all rolled conveniently in one duvet.
Sheets are types of beddings that differ from blankets mainly in terms of thickness. These are primarily used for hygiene, aesthetics and sheer comfort, and they are usually a lot thinner that blankets. Sheets are also generally made from cotton or linen while blankets are usually made from wool.
